I Will Not Play Conte’s Style At Chelsea- Sarri

Chelsea Manager, Maurizio Sarri has maintained that he will not play the style of game introduced at the club by his predecessor, Antonio Conte.

Conte while in charge at Stamford Bridge had had played three at the back which favoured him greatly in his first season at the club.
Sarri said he is not perturbed about Chelsea’s worrisome defensive performances this season and he will not for any reasons revert to Conte’s style of play.

The Blues have gained three points from two games from their two opening matches though they struggled to contain Arsenal’s ferocious attack last week.

The Blues face Newcastle at St James’ Park on Sunday where they haven’t won in their previous five visits. Sarri admitted it will take his players time to adapt to his defensive instructions.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of this weekend’s game, he said, “I work on it every week. I am not worried about the defensive phase.

“Usually when I arrive at a new club, I have problems for two-three months, I think it is normal.”

When asked whether he would revert to Conte’s three-man defence with wing-backs, Sarri responded, “No. I used five [defenders] years ago, but it’s not my way.”
