The people of Umudibia Autonomous community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State turned out en-masse to celebrate the 2018 Odu Yam Festival which took place at the Community Primary School play ground along Federal Polytechnic Road Nekede at the week end.
Speaking at the event, the traditional ruler of the community, HRH Eze Godwin Merenini (DIbia I of Umudibia) expressed happiness for the success of the festival which according to him would not have been accomplished without the selfless leadership of Umudibia Town Union, the Eze-in-council, the women Association, the Youth, the Industrial Investors in Umudibia Land and the tireless 2018 Odu planning committees led by Hon. Chris Njoku, chairman planning committee 2018.
Eze Godwin had earlier reiterated the readiness of his people to keep showing total support to the government of the State but regretted the poor state of roads within their area. He therefore used the new yam occasion to call on government to intervene speedily and relieve the entire users of Nekede/Ihiagwa poly/futo roads.
