As the governorship primaries of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in Imo State draws near, some governorship aspirants have resorted to moves geared towards winning the party’s governorship ticket.

This newspaper observed that most of the aspirants have intensified consultations among party chieftains including enticing party chieftains with various gifts.

One of the aspirants was said to have given out motorcycles to ward officials as part of a deft strategy to woo party chieftains now that the primaries is coming close.

Though modalities for holding the primaries have not been outlined by the party leadership, the serious aspirants have embarked on rallies wooing those at the grassroots.

The level of political meetings within the camps of the aspirants have also intensified.

APGA have the largest number of governorship aspirants in Imo State all eying the party’s governorship ticket. The party has remained a powerful political force in the State since 1999.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha was elected on the platform of APGA in 2011 but dumped the party in 2014 for the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Okorocha later described the party as a cultural organization.
