Chelsea have reacted to claims that its owner Roman Abramovich wants to sell the club.

Rumours were rife that the club owner was looking for a buyer of the English club side.

There were claims in the Sunday Times that the Russian billionaire was willing to sell the club for a huge offer.

According to the report, Abramovich was said to have hired US investment Bank Raine Group to seek interest from investors from China, the United States and the Middle East.
He was said to have wanted in excess of 2 billion pounds for the club which would triple the previous most expensive take over in soccer history when the Glazer family purchased Manchester United for 790 million pounds.

But another UK newspaper, The Mirror on Sunday reported that Chelsea are adamant that club be put up for sale. The club said its Russian owner is still commiteed despite not visitin Stamford Bridge in recent times.

The Russian recently bought a new £30m penthouse in west London, while Chelsea invested significantly over the summer, breaking their transfer record to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga.
