An Owerri High Court has refused to vacate a Court Order which had restrained the swearing in of Governor’s Rochas Okorocha new Deputy, Mr. Callistus Ekenze.
Mr. Ekenze was appointed by Governor Rochas Okorocha and cleared by the Imo State House of Assembly to take over from Prince Eze Madumere as Deputy Governor who was impeached by the State House of Assembly.
At the resumed hearing of the matter, attempts by the State Commissioner of Justice, Milletus Nlemadim to convince the presiding Judge, Justice B.Iheaka to vacate the Order was futile.
The matter had come up on 13th August, 2018 but the Court did not proceed with the matter on the grounds that all the Defendants were said to have not been served.
It would be recalled that on 30th July, 2018, the Court ordered the 7 man Investigative Panel to halt further action on the impeachment of Eze Madumere. But same day, he was hurriedly impeached by the State House of Assembly paving the way for Mr. Ekenze’s swearing in.
But Mr.Ekenze not sworn in as the State Government claimed it had to obey a court order which stopped the exercise.
