Anxiety has gripped public office seekers in Imo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC since dates for party primaries surfaced.
Reports reaching this newspaper indicate that primaries in the party will kick off on September 15th for the State House of Assembly, House of Reps 19th September, Senate 23rd September and Presidential Primaries October 6.
At the moment, two factions exist in Imo APC- the Okorocha backed Daniel Nwafor led State Executives and the Hilary Eke led exco installed by APC chieftains called the “Allied Forces” The group is made up of Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, Senator Osita Izunaso, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and others.
An Owerri Federal High Court had nullified congress which returned Eke as Chairman of the party. The Okorocha camp had kicked against the congress and held a fresh one which produced Nwafor and other officers of the party at all levels.
APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole and the National Working Committee, NWC of the party had sworn in Nwafor last month in Abuja.
With confusion reigning supreme in the party in the State, most of the aspirants are hopeful that the various camps they belong to would eventually produce the party flagbearers at all levels.
It is uncertain how the primaries will be conducted in the State but political pundits foresee a situation where parallel primaries will be held by the two contending factions .
