Elder statesman and a leader in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has said he never anointed any aspirant as Imo PDP governorship candidate.
Iwuanyanwu was reported by an Owerri based local tabloid to have endorsed the candidature of his political godson and Senator representing Owerri zone, Senator Samuel Anyanwu for the PDP guber ticket and to be the next Governor of Imo State.
Iwuanyanwu said the publication was completely false and embarrassing aimed at smearing his image.
He said the report emanated out of a conspiracy by those who sponsored the publication.
He said as an apex leader of the party in the state, he is aware that no one can anoint a candidate for any position as all must be elected through primaries where delegates will select their choices.
He demanded an apology from the tabloid that published the story or face legal action in the next seven days.
