Gonzalo Higuian has revealed why he shunned Chelsea and its new Coach, Maurizio Sarri.

The Argentine said he chose AC Milan over Chelsea because he believed that Sarri was the only person that truly needed his services at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had sought for Higuain just as Juventus looked to raise funds after securing the services of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Argentine had a memorable season under Sarri, scoring 36 times in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign to earn a move to the Old Lady.

Chelsea was said to have offered short term contracts to Players over 30 years

Speaking about Chelsea’s approach at his unveiling, Higuain explained to Italian reporters at AC Milan on Friday afternoon, “I have huge respect for Sarri, but he was the only one who wanted me at Chelsea.

“Here at Milan, everyone wanted me. The motivation and conviction they showed at Milan was fundamental.”

Higuain joined Milan on an initial one-year loan worth around £16m and the Serie A giants have an obligation to sign him permanently next summer for £32m.
