2019: UPP Will Not Field Presidential Candidate, Unveil Nomination Forms

As the 2019 general elections draw near, the United Progressive Party, UPP has declared that it will not field any presidential candidate in the polls.

The party in a statement by its spokesman, Chief Dike Ogbuehi, spelt out fees payable by aspirants seeking nominations to contest 2019 general elections for the positions of House of Assembly up to the Senate.

In 2015, its founder and National Chairman, Chief Chekwas Okorie, had picked up the gauntlet to run on the party’s ticket for the highest elective position in the land, against then incumbent, Goodluck Jonathan and eventual winner of the election, now President Muhammadu Buhari.

The UPP had last week announced that aspirants of 30 years and below or a physically challenged person will be given forms for free.

According to the party’s spokesman, forms will be on sale on September 3, 2018 at its National Secretriat, in Wuse, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The statement also listed the nomination fees for all the categories of electable offices, which it said were reviewed and approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC) in its meeting of 17th August, 2018 in Abuja.

In the reviewed edition, aspirants for House of Assembly, would pay N50, 000.00, House of Representatives, 200,000, Senatorial, 500,000, and Governorship, N3million.
