A frontline presidential aspirant for the top job of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr. Christopher Isiguzo is set to flagg off his campaign in Umuahia, Abia State on September 4.
A statement signed by his campaign Director General,Alhaji Ali Atabor, said the Mr.Isiguzo, in line with the electoral guidelines, having successfully scaled through the screening procedures, as undertaken by the higly respectable and professionally minded screening team, is now set to kick off his campaign
Part of the statement reads:
“The achievements of Comrade Chris Isiguzo as two time Vice President of NUJ Zone C, his presidential mission statement and programme of action, would also be unveiled on that day.
“Rescue Mission Organisation wishes to restate her unwavering commitment to the redemption of our fledgling Union.
“This it intends to do through refocusing of NUJ administration to ensure effective leadership, to embark on review of the constitution to make for professionalism and remove ambiguities, to enhance the welfare of members, to reposition the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), to fight non payment of salaries by some media owners, and to catalyze the establishment of stabilization fund to end high rate of bankruptcy in the media industry with resultant loss of thousands of jobs by colleagues.
“We call on all concerned members of NUJ to join in this onerous mission to rescue our Union from ineptitude, lackluster leadership, dictatorship and division crippling the various councils. NUJ must be professionally run to earn her respect nationally and internationally with the welfare of members at the centre state of all its programmes and activities.
