Strike: Workers Comply In Imo

The Strike embarked on by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, took off in Owerri, Imo State early Thursday morning as workers stayed at home

Civil servants who went to work were not allowed access into the State Secretariat complex as the gates were shut. Primary and secondary schools were also closed forcing pupils and students to return home.

Some financial institutions were not left out too as customers made use of ATMs to withdraw cash.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC had called for a strike action to press home its demand for an increase in minimum wage from N18,000 to N56,000.
