The Maurice Iwu led Imo Economic Development Initiative, IEDI, and some governorship aspirants met in Owerri at the weekend where they pledged to return good governance to Imo State.

At a 2 day interactive workshop, the forum centered their debate on Health,education,Infrastructural provision that bordered on energy/electricity, rule of law, civil service, employment, creation/entrepreneurship, Local Government Autonomy, Security of lives and property, Industrialization and private sector participation to food security.

In a statement made available to newsmen and signed by the Chairman of IEDI,Prof.Iwu, the highlight of the interaction stated that:”All the aspirants appreciated the efforts of IEDI and in turn reciprocated appreciation in bringing them together to discuss their individual agenda/manifesto for Ndi-Imo.

Part of the statement reads:

“That those aspirants who honoured the workshop declared their willingness to work and cooperate with IEDI.

“That all the aspirants agreed to think Imo,drink Imo and act Imo first in everything during and after the primaries. All the aspirants agreed for the need for a paradigm shift in the governance of Ndi-Imo.

‘All the aspirants agreed to a peaceful conduct of their primaries and subsequent elections.

“All the aspirants agreed to abundant human and natural resources in the state to the benefit of the citizens and that they agreed to their readiness to work hard to reduce hardship,poverty,hunger and diseases.

The statement also states “most aspirants have well articulated leadership plan of action to accomplish the goals and agenda of their intentions for the betterment of Ndi-Imo in 2019, such as good governance and that all the aspirants agreed to the need for a collegiate system as the most efficient method of running a good government,if elected as Governor in 2019.

The statement was read by a member of IEDI,Prof.Chris C.Eke and was signed by the Chairman,Prof.Iwu.

Some of the governorship aspirants from various political parties who attended the two days workshop includes:Barr.Uche Onyeagocha,Mr.Linus Okorie,Chief Emeka Ihedioha,Capt.David Mbamara,Mazi Prince Daniel Kalu.
