The United Progressive Party, UPP is said to be the biggest beneficiary of this anomaly as this newspaper was reliably informed that aspirants especially in the “big political parties” are secretly scrambling up UPP nomination forms.

The reason for this development is anchored on the fear of such aspirants losing their nomination in their original parties where the primaries will be fierce and intense.

A source who got wind of this development and  spoke on condition of anonymity revealed to this newspaper that the uncertain political climate in their “original parties” could be responsible for this ugly development.

” I can tell you on good authority that some of the aspirants especially in the “big parties” have engaged in a hide and seek game. They are approaching the “small parties” securing their nomination forms and engaging in secret agreements.

” I do not blame them anyway. The reason for this is that in the event they lose the primaries in their original parties, they can easily switch over to another party and have the opportunity to take part in their primaries and possibly emerge victorious.

” This is the height of desperation on the part of some of our politicians. Most of them are now running to the UPP in Imo State and other political parties where there is less scramble and acrimony for the party tickets

Efforts to reach the newly elected State Chairman of the UPP in Imo State, Innocent Njoku to confirm or refute this development was futile as at the time of filing this report.
