Following reports that some class of aspirants in the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State may have allotted automatic tickets, the State chapter of the party has said there is no iota of truth in the story.
News had hit the APC in the State that some aspirants have been given such tickets thus making them candidates even before the party primaries are held.
A statement by the State Publicity Secretary,Onwusoanya FCC Jones, he said the idea of automatic tickest by a party is alien to democracy and therefore impracticable which prides as the torchbearer of democracy, due process and Rule of Law, not just in Nigeria, but the entire African continent.
.“Our Party believes in the power of the people to decide the fate of our political leaders and at every point, the Party makes sure that this power is not deprived from the people. To this end, all aspirants on the Party’s platform shall face the Party’s primaries, where Party members shall decide through their votes, who among these aspirants is best to fly the Party’s flag during the general elections” he said.
