It also said serving State and Federal Lawmakers are on its way to the party.

In a statement by FCC Jones Onwusoanya, State Publicity Secretary of the party, it said it had engaged in direct discussions with the likely decampees as “indirect discussions between some members of the Party’s leadership and these aspirants and indirect discussions through other aspirants and their middlemen, the Party has been inundated with complaints of high-handedness, corruption, extortion and undemocratic practices by the leadership of these smaller Parties”

Based on this development, “the assurance from these aspirants to coalesce with the APC to ensure total victory for us, as they are convinced that the APC is the only political party that upholds true democratic processes, allows every member equal opportunities and guarantees the best deal for the ordinary people”

Part of the statement reads:

“Some serving and former members of the National Assembly, including a governorship aspirant on the platform of these opposition Parties have assured our Party of their readiness to work with us to ensure a continuity of good governance, a consolidation of the many gains of our administration and a correction where there have been few mistakes.

“Also, a former governor of the State has appealed to the Party leadership for accommodation in the next dispensation, as he has got tired of being an antagonist against a Party of the people. The former governor regretted his failure to join the APC immediately after the 2015 elections and assured that as soon as the 2019 elections are over, he will cross-carpet to the governing Party, as he is convinced that no other political Party stands a chance to make any serious dent on the widespread acceptability of the Party.

“He sought the Party’s understanding for his regular but baseless attacks on the government, explaining that such unfounded criticisms is the only way he believes he could stay relevant in the scheme of things and do some urgent repairs on his dangerously damaged reputation. He explained that he might have to be doing that from time to time as that has somehow become a pastime. He appealed to the Party, not to take his criticisms to heart

He said the party “welcomes all genuinely intended rapprochements and even inter-party understandings, but assures that it will not sacrifice the interests of long serving and loyal members of the Party for any reason.

“The Party will, in the spirit of running an all-inclusive government, accommodate every Imolite and any progressive ideals that may help in moving our dear State, forward” the statement concluded
