The United Progressive party, UPP has become an emerging ground for progressive Imolites with a progressive ideology to converge in Imo State.

The party has also become a rallying point for all segment of Imo society who are desirous to bringing genuine change to the sorry condition of the State in the last seven years.

Having been rated as the one of the five political parties to win the 2019 elections in Imo State, the UPP has grown to become a compelling factor in Imo politics that will shape the outcome of the 2019 elections in Imo State.

With a successful Ward, Local Government and State Congresses devoid of the pitfalls and ugly scenarios prevalent in other parties, the UPP has shown a burning determination to be a determinant factor in Imo politics with an eye for victory at the elections.

To demonstrate it’s desire to accommodate all strata of the Imo society in its relentless pursuit to achieving social, economic and political rebirth in the State, it announced that those below 30 years are exempted from paying a fee to secure it’s Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms.

Those eying the State House of Assembly will pay as low as N50,000 for its forms.House of Representatives aspirants will pay as low as N200,000, Senatorial aspirants N500,000 while the Governorship is N3,000,000. Female aspirants and Physically Challenged Persons are completely exempted from buying forms with a dime!

According to a press release signed by Chief Dike Ogbuehi, Publicity Secretary of the party, it outlined modalities for the purchase of the forms and at the same time prescribed a time frame for its submission.

Part of the statement reads ” Sale of Nomination Forms will commence on the 20th of August, 2018, completed Nomination Forms for Senatorial/House of Representatives Primaries shall be returned not later than 17th September, 2018.

“Completed Nomination Forms for Governorship/ House of Assembly Primaries shall be returned not later than 24th 2018”

Based on the foregoing, the UPP has shown a greater commitment to liberalize the political space and be a veritable platform for political inclusiveness by engaging all and sundry in the task of achieving and enthroning a responsible government in 2019 in Imo.

In a State the citizenry are yearning for political and economic emancipation, the UPP has offered a window of opportunity for Imolites to experience an overwhelming social, economic and political freedom in Imo State in 2019 and beyond.

The entrance of over 15 contestants for the senatorial and House of Reps seats and a good number of House of Assembly aspirants who have taken advantage of the party’s open door policy to further their aspirations is a reflection of UPP’s rapid growth and development which has made it a top contender in the 2019 elections in Imo State.

With a less cumbersome process in selecting Party candidates that will stand in elections, the UPP in pursuit of its progressive oriented ideology has introduced a mechanism to ensure a rancour free, transparent, credible primaries. This affords candidates in the party the rare opportunity of spending less money during primaries and at the elections. This is a sharp contrast to other political parties
where aspirants are made a “cash cow” and spend a fortune in bribing party delegates, party leaders before they emerge as candidates for elections.

UPP also afford aspirants the opportunity to take aspirants to the front burner of elections by eliminating those endemic intrigues and political abracadabra that are attached to primaries in the so called big political parties.
