The All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State has shifted it’s governorship primaries to Tuesday, 2nd October, 2018.
A statement by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, FCC Jones onwusonya said the shift in date was a result of the late arrival of the Governorship Primary Committee into the State.
The statement reads:
“The general public is hereby notified that the APC Governorship Primary which was originally rescheduled to hold today 01-10-2018 has been shifted to tomorrow, 02-10-2018. This unavoidable shift in date became necessary because the Governorship Primary Committee set up by the National Working Committee of our great Party could not arrive Imo State early enough due to flight hitches and other logistics.
“The committee has since arrived and has stored all the sensitive materials meant for the conduct of the primary in the office of the Commissioner of Police, Imo State. The committee has also met with some stakeholders of the Party, including the governorship aspirants and has secured the confidence of everyone of them on their readiness to conduct a free and fair direct primary election across the 305 wards in the State.
“Party members and the general public are therefore requested to kindly discountenance some figures, pictures and videos purported as results of the Primary election being bandied about by some mischievous elements in the State. We also apologize to hundreds of thousands of Party members who came out enmasse to participate in the primary election.
“We are hopeful that the wait to unveil a trustworthy, popular and adequately prepared governorship candidate, which only our Party can guarantee will be over in the shortest possible time.
