The Social Democratic Party, SDP has hinted that three governorship aspirants from the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA are set to quit the cock party.
In a statement by Chilos Godsent, Publicity Secretary of the SDP, he said the three aspirants are joining the SDP from APGA with over 15, 000 supporters
The statement reads in full:
“Three aggrieved APGA Governorship aspirants will very soon decamp to Social Democratic Party (SDP) with over fifteen thousand supporters in Imo State
“As a fallout of the disputed governorship primaries of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State, three aggrieved governorship aspirants of the party whom accused the leadership of APGA of abysmal betrayal and selling the party ticket to the highest bidder, the three aggrieved aspirants who pleaded anonymity held close door meeting with the hierarchy of the SDP Imo State in a bid to moving into SDP with over fifteen thousand supporters very soon.
“During the close door meeting, the top chieftains of APGA said, they decided to choose SDP because SDP have people’s oriented manifesto, and has viable structures at the grass root.
“Furthermore, the APGA Chieftains said, SDP is the most credible party in Imo State now with formidable party structures at the grass root and better chances of winning the Governorship of Imo State inclusive of other elective positions in the forthcoming 2019 general election.
“According to one of the chieftain “we will invest every available human and material resource within our disposal to make sure SDP win the governorship of Imo State in 2019”. He said there is no alternative to SDP in 2019 in Imo State.
