Does Imo APC Risk Not Fielding Guber Candidate?

*As Abuja High Court Adjourns Matter Indefinitely*

The uncertainty surrounding the All Progressive Congress, APC governorship ticket in Imo State still hovers as an Abuja High Court, Tuesday adjourned indefinitely a matter brought before it on the matter.

The party in Imo State has been engulfed by a fierce and intense struggle for the governorship ticket, a clear battle between Governor Rochas Okorocha, who is backing his son in law and Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu and Senator Hope Uzodinma.

The camp of Senator Hope Uzodinma had claimed that there is a Court Order that seek to compel  the APC and the INEC to recognise him as the governorship candidate of the party.

Uche Nwosu is also laying claim to the Guber ticket of the party anchoring his position on the outcome of a repeat primary conducted by Gen Agbabiaka Guber primary election committee which declared him winner of the primary election.

Nwosu has also gone to court seeking to compel the party and INEC not field any other person aside himself as the governorship candidate of the party.

The legal brick bats has set the pace for a seeming endless legal battle which has put the National Working Committee of the APC in a difficult corner in announcing who is the rightful governorship candidate of the party in Imo State.

With the November 2, 2018 deadline for political parties to submit names of candidates, Imo APC is in a tight corner on who flies the party’s flag in the governorship election.

The party still boils with rage as loyalists of Governor Okorocha had  stormed the streets of Owerri on Monday to protest the dropping of some candidates loyal to the Governor for some National Assembly positions.

Shorty after the Court adjourned indefinitely, Okorocha in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemedo, said with the kind of candidates parade by other parties  he is optimistic that the APC will convincingly in the 25 of the 27 local governments in the State in 2019.

He said those who do not believe in the ballot box but only believes in carrying ballot boxes and writing fictions results in a hotel do not have the capacity to win Imo State for the APC.

However, there is a consensus among political analysts that if the Courts fail to legally proffer a solution to the raging inferno ravaging the APC in Imo State, it may end up not producing a governorship candidate for the 2019 election.

This is similar to the political scenario in the PDP in 2007 when as the ruling party it failed to produce a governorship candidate forcing the party to poach Ikedi Ohakim of the progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA as an alternative candidate.
