There are strong indications that a running mate to APGA governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume may emerge this week, reliable sources revealed to this newspaper.

Last week, we had reported that the jostle for the Senator’s running mate has emerged with several political considerations coming into play.

The running mate will certainly come from Owerri and Orlu zones but sources said there are solid considerations that the running mate may emerge from Owerri zone.

Owerri zone have three powerful mini blocs- the Mbaike bloc comprising Mbaitoli and Ikeduru LGA, Owerri bloc made up of Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West.

The Mbaise bloc do have Ahiazu Mbaise, Ezinihitte Mbaise and Aboh Mbaise. Ngor Okpala is considered part of Mbaise bloc because of its proximity to the Mbaise nation.

There are feelers that the running mate will be named after a crucial meeting of the party in Awka, Anambra State expected to take place on Monday, 29th October, 2018.

Araraume had emerged APGA’s governorship candidate in controversial circumstances but credit has been to the Senator for his calm and calculated disposition in managing the outcome of the primary that threatened the foundation of APGA in Imo State.

The choice of a running mate is key as it is capable of bolstering the party’s chances at the elections considering the fierce, intense colouration and shape the governorship contest in 2019 will be.
