Following the postponement of the governorship primary to Saturday, October 6, some governorship aspirants have raised an alarm.

The primary scheduled for Friday, October was postponed for late arrival of materials and officials that were to conduct the exercise.
Former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim in a statement alleged that thugs wer brought in to disrupt the Primary on Friday

Part of the statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Collins Ughalla reads partly  “We condemn in strongest terms the resort to thuggery and brigandage and the unnecessary teargassing of the people who had conducted themselves peacefully. The delegates to the governorship primary election have sworn that they would lay down their life to ensure that no one thwarts their mandate and advised who resorted to importing thugs that such acts cannot work.

Another aspirant, Ike Ibeh alleged that instead of 1, 027 delegates who were supposed to elect the party’s governorship candidate, over 15,000 thugs were imported to cause pandemonium at the venue of the primary leading to the cancellation of the exercise.

The State party leadership is yet to react to these allegations as delegates file out to elect a governorship flagbearer for the party.
