In what appears his first public reaction to the controversy that trailed the governorship primary of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim has said APGA founded by Late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu has lost its focus.

In a facebook post on his verified account, Ohakim however urged his supporters not despair, but rather be strong and be hopeful.

The former Governor is among 12 other governorship aspirantsĀ  in the Imo State chapter of APGA who had chided over the national leadership of the party of holdingĀ  a “kangaroo arrangement” that produced Senator Ifeanyi Araraume as its governorship candidate

The former Governor wrote “My dear Compatriot, Umu nnem Ndi Imo,

We joined APGA to organize and promote Igbo interests within the Nigerian political context. But, the Party through its recent activities and actions appears to have lost the focus of it’s founding father the great Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu a man whose Igboness has always inspired me and who will always be my leader. However, I urge you my dear brothers and sisters not to despair over the irresponsible, desperate, greedy and unpatriotic actions of a few. Be strong and be hopeful. We shall find a better direction. Together, we will fix Imo State. We owe ourselves and our children that much
