As part of its efforts to heal frayed nerves in the All Progressive Congress, APC after its primaries, the National Working Committee, NWC has constituted various committees to manage the crisis that trailed the conduct of primaries in the party in the South East States.
Also similar committees with seven members each were set up for other geo political zones. All the Governors of the party are members except the three aggrieved Governors, Governor Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun) and Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara)
Imo State is the only State controlled by the ruling party in the South East. The party in Imo State has been boiling since Governor Rochas Okorocha lost out in his quest to have his son in law and Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu as governorship candidate of the party.
Senator Hope Uzodinma eventually clinched the party’s governorship ticket and since then, Governor Okorocha has been involved in verbal war with the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole.
It was learnt that the committee has no power to make changes to the party’s candidates. The Committee for the South East zone is led by Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje. Members are Governors Simon Lalong (Plateau) and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State.
Others are Senator Godswill Akpabio, Umaru Dembo, Nasiru Aliko Koki and Ify Igo Okoye.
