As the December 2nd deadline set by INEC to substitute names of candidates draws near, the governing party in Imo State, the All Progressive Congress, APC, may heading for a big drama considering the bitter war that trailed the scramble for party tickets.

Governor Rochas Okorocha “Agburu Camp” and Senator Hope Uzodinma’s “Camp Hope” are not on the same page as Uzodinma moves on with his governorship ambition with all intensity and firepower.

Political analysts said both camps may eventually part ways after INEC’s deadline for substitution of candidates on Dec 2.

Okorocha’s preferred choice for the party ticket, Uche Nwosu has been speculated to be heading to another political party having lost out in the scramble to secure the Imo APC governorship ticket. The former Chief of Staff has not publicly said so but his body language seems point to such move.

According to a facebook post by FCC Onwusoanya Jones at the weekend, he reported that Nwosu has been endorsed by 40 political parties.

This may be an indication that Okorocha’s son in law may quit the APC ahead of the December 2nd deadline set by INEC. Already a former principal aide to the Governor was reported to have joined the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP after losing a House of Reps ticket to represent Ideato Federal Constituency in the APC.

In Senator Hope Uzodinma’s camp, it was unclear if the name of his running mate, Barr C.O. C Akaolisa will be substituted. Agitations have been ongoing if his running mate who hails from the same Federal Constituency with Uzodinma in Orlu zone will remain.

Unverified online reports had it that Uzodinma may relinquish the party ticket for an Owerri zone guber aspirant in line with a said agreement with some governorship aspirants from Owerri zone who belong to the Imo APC Coalition.

This newspaper’s efforts to confirm such an “agreement” was futile which indicates such assumption may exist in the realm of speculation.

With these uncertainties, political analysts in the State contend that the coming week will decide so many political variables in the party.

*CARETAKER COMMITTEE IN THE OFFING?*

There were reports at the weekend that the APC State Executives led by Daniel Nwafor who is loyal to Okorocha and Nwosu may make way for a Caretaker that will work with Senator Uzodinma ahead of the 2019 governorship election.

A source in the party said “The Present State Executives cannot work with the Senator who is the governorship candidate of the party.

“If it is true Uche Nwosu will leave the APC, the party structure at all levels in the State may move with him to another political abode. I do not see Senator Uzodinma working with the present set up in Imo APC

” The INEC deadline will decide a lot. We are yet to see the biggest drama in the cinema”
