Former Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council, Hon Mac Donald Ebere, has explained why he rejoined the race to represent Owerri municipal State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly.
Speaking to women, youths and other stakeholders in Owerri community at Obiri Njemanze in Owerri, Ebere said he is the most qualified among other contestants in the race having obtained several qualifications from various tertiary institutions.
He said he rejoined the race to better the lot of Owerri people having served them creditably when he was Chairman of Owerri Municipal Council.
He spoke of his impressive record at the Council, recalling how he built boreholes in across Owerri municipal and ran a transparent administration leaving behind enough funds for his successor to run the affairs of the council
” I was transparent when I was Chairman of the Council. I left 11 million naira in the coffers of the Council for my successor to work with” he said
Ebere whose speech was greeted with intermittent cheers of “Mac Is The Best” from teeming supporters called for a debate for all contestants vying for Owerri municipal Assembly seat, stating that this would give Owerri people ample opportunity to asses the capacity and ability of the candidates vying to represent the municipality.
Earlier in his remarks, former State Chairman of APC in Imo State, Chris Oguoma enumerated the fine qualities of Hon.Ebere describing him as a gentleman who has the capacity to deliver and give Owerri people effective representation.
Hundreds of Youths and women who graced the event spoke eloquently on the qualities of the ex Council Chairman.
