As the deadline for the substitution of names of candidates by INEC draws near, the political fate of Governor Rochas Okorocha son in law, Uche Nwosu hangs in the balance as speculations continue to rise that he may quit the APC to join another political party.
Nwosu have been having it rough in the APC where he lost the party’s governorship ticket to Senator Hope Uzodinma
He had consistently insisted that he is the candidate of the APC anchoring his victory on the outcome of the October 6 repeat governorship primary in Imo APC.
But the nullification of that Primary by a Federal High Court last Wednesday may have further worsened his quest to re claim the ticket. The Court verdict was described as the final boxing punch all aimed at denying Nwosu the governorship ticket of the party.
Also, the exit of some political followers from Governor Okorocha’s camp seem to have made things worse in the Rescue mission camp.
Last week, key allies of the Governor and a staunch supporter of Uche Nwosu governorship bid, Chief Charles Amadi (Charlvon) dumped the Governor and sought political refuge elsewhere.
There are also feelers that those in Okorocha’s camp who lost the party ticket have joined another political party to continue their ambition.
A former principal aide to the Governor who lost the party’s House of Reps ticket for Ideato North/ South has found solace in another party. All this add up to a crumbling quest by Nwosu to secure the party ticket as deadline for substitution of candidates draws near.
Sources said there is pressure on the young man to paddle his political ambition on another platform.
The United Progressive Party, UPP, was speculated to be the next destination for Nwosu.
But the response of the UPP governorship candidate, Tony Nwulu who said there is no such agreement to trade off his ticket has raised more concerns on Nwosu’s next political move.
There is the contention that the former Chief of Staff will certainly announce his next move- either to remain in the APC or join another party to prove pundits wrong that he was wrongfully denied the governorship ticket of the APC.
