The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is set to deploy a Contact and Integration Committee to some APC states hit by crisis.
A source in the party hinted this newspaper in Abuja that Imo State is on the list the committee will visit.
The Committee is headed by Senator Lyiel Imoke, a former Governor of Cross River State.
The APC in Imo, Zamfara and Ogun States have been locked in a battle with State Governors denied their choice candidates the party’s governorship ticket.
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha had predicted that the APC will lose five million votes if the crisis in the APC is not resolved.
The Imo State Governor has been involved in fierce altercations with the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over the governorship ticket of the party.
Oshiomhole had forwarded the name of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the party’s governorship candidate for Imo State, a choice which angered the Governor who felt the National Chairman should have given the ticket to Uche Nwosu, his son in law.
The PDP committee is expected in Owerri soon to meet the aggrieved members.
Governor Okorocha has however made it clear that he is not leaving the APC for any of other party. This was also re echoed by Uche Nwosu who said he will remain in the APC to retrieve his mandate. He insisted that he remains the governorship candidate of the APC.
A source in the PDP headquarters in Abuja said the PDP is ready to offer accommodation for all Nigerians who want an end to the misrule of the APC.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan was quoted by VANGUARD to have said “Our Committee (Contact and Integration) is reaching out to these people and I can assure Nigerians that we will provide accommodation for all of them in our rebranded platform”
