A last minute court order ordering the National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress, APC obtained by Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere was the clinical finish that halted Governor Rochas Okorocha’s camp to have Uche Nwosu as the governorship candidate of the APC.
According to Adams Oshimole, the APC National Chairman, he had to obey a court order from Imo State obtained by the the State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere, not substitute the name of the party’s governorship candidate.
Madumere had fallen out with Governor Rochas Okorocha, his friend and mentor for over 20 years after the latter had backed his son in law and Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu for 2019 governorship.
The Deputy Governor broke away from the Rescue Mission camp of the Governor and pitched his political tenth with the Imo APC Coalition, a group of politicians opposed to Governor Okorocha.
He was impeached by the Imo State House of Assembly on allegations of “gross misconduct” but reinstated by the law courts.
Madumere was among the nine governorship aspirants that participated in the primary that produced Senator Hope Uzodinma as the governorship candidate of the party.
Reports said he has been nominated as running mate to Senator Uzodinma.
