More fireworks has continued between Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha and National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole.
Oshiomole had forwarded the name of Senator Hope Uzodinma as governorship candidate of the APC in Imo State. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had on Friday published Uzodinma’s name as Governorship candidate of the party.
Okorocha is backing his son in law, Uche Nwosu for the APC governorship ticket.
Oshiomole had said he will not allow Okorocha build a political dynasty in Imo State.
But in a statement on Sunday signed by Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemedo, the Imo State Governor accused Oshiomole of building a family dynasty in Edo State.
The Imo State Governor also took on Ahmed Gulak, Chairman of the APC governorship primary in Imo State. Gulak had also accused the Imo Governor of mind blowing allegations in Okorocha’s desperation to have Uche Nwosu, his son in law as governorship candidate of the party in Imo State.
The statement reads :
“In giving account of his encounter with the DSS, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole once again took on Governor Rochas Okorocha, talking about how the governor offered him bribe and he refused and repeated his claim that he wants to stop the governor from building family dynasty.
“Alhaji Ahmed Gulak had one month after his kidnap tale also made the same allegation of two million dollars bribe which he said he also rejected. Our worry is that Comrade Oshiomhole and Gulak have decided to impugn on the intelligence of Nigerians with all these their latest accounts.
“On the side of Oshiomhole he has been telling the world that he wants to stop Okorocha from building a dynasty in Imo. And he only needed to be questioned by the DSS Personnel to remember that the governor offered him bribe and he refused. Do Gulak and Oshiomhole think that Nigerians are not intelligent enough to detach the truth from falsehood. These are partners in falsehood and they are on media campaign to cover up the mess they put themselves in Imo.
“To say the least, Adams Oshiomhole is the “father – father” of family dynasty or nepotism or “familiocracy”. Uche Nwosu is from Nkwerre Local Government, while Rochas Okorocha is from Ideato South LGA. They have no relationship aside the inlaw issue. The only relation of Governor Okorocha who is in his government is Ogechi Ololo from Owerri North. She does not answer Ogechi Okorocha. There is no other direct or indirect relation of Okorocha in his government. So, as it stands now, Rochas is the only Okorocha running election.
“But Oshiomhole is the known family dynasty builder. And Edo State is the victim. Infact he is the architect of “Familiocracy”. Adams Oshiomhole is the National Chairman of APC and governor for 8years. Rilwan Oshiomhole, his younger brother, is a Commissioner in Edo State Oil Producing Development Commission (EDSOPEDEC). Seid Aliyu Oshiomhole another younger brother, is the House of Assembly Candidate for Etsako West 2 State Constituency. Yakubu Oshiomhole is the Secretary to the Local Government Commission, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole is vying for the House of Representatives for Etsako Federal Constituency.
“With all these, between Rochas Okorocha whose only relation in government is Ogechi Ololo from Owerri North and Adams Oshiomhole who has the Oshiomholes in government or contesting positions who should be accused of building a dynasty or running a “familiocracy”?
“Adams Oshiomhole led National Working Committee (NWC) sent a 12-member Committee to Imo State to Conduct the APC primaries with Alhaji Ahmed Gulak as Chairman. The primary elections were slated for October 1, 2018. Because the Committee members arrived late, and after all said and done, he announced that the primary would then take place the following day being October 2, 2018.
“Alhaji Gulak didn’t wait to Conduct the primaries. He fled Owerri. And he told the world that he fled Owerri by 4:30am because there was kidnap attempt on his person. The Secretary of the Committee Barr. Henry Idahagbon from Edo State with seven other members who stayed behind went ahead with the primaries and Uche Nwosu won the governorship primary.
“However, Comrade Oshiomhole told Nigerians that he had disbanded the Gulak committee and discarded all that came out from that committee and promised to set up a new one. In line with his promise, he set up another 13-member Committee led by Brigadier-General Ibrahim Agbabiaka.
“On October 6, 2018, the Agbabiaka Committee Conducted the primaries and Uche Nwosu won that of governorship. The Prof. Osunbor Appeal Panel also looked at the whole scenarios and also declared Uche Nwosu Candidate of the party. These are our narratives. Let Adams Oshiomhole or Gulak contradict us.
All of a sudden, the same Oshiomhole who disbanded the Gulak Committee and whatever came out of it, developed strange love for Gulak and his blunder. That is the crux of the matter in the Imo APC case.
“A month after his first account of kidnap attempt, Alhaji Gulak began to talk about 2million dollars bribe and other petty stories. It took him a whole month to remember the bribe angle. He didn’t talk about the kidnap attempt again.
“Gulak and Oshiomhole can deceive Nigerians and succeed in enjoying whatever prompted what they did in Imo, but posterity must surely treat them according to their actions and inactions.
