The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State, Mr, FCC Onwusoanya Jones, has maintained that Uche Nwosu is the governorship candidate of Imo APC.
A statement he signed in Owerri reads :
“The attention of the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has been drawn to some rumors concerning the purported substitution of the name of the actual and undisputed winner of the governorship primary election of the Party with the name of an aspirant who polled poorly in the governorship primary election conducted on the 6th of October, 2018 across the 305 wards in the State.
“We wish to reiterate that the winner of the governorship primary election conducted by the Party in Imo State is Ugwumba Uche Nwosu and no individual or organ of the Party has the powers to change the wishes of the people.as communicated through their votes during the direct primary.
“Those whose actions and utterances fuel these rumors are urged to consult the Constitution of the Party and if possible, seek advice from legal practitioners in order to better appreciate the limits of their powers and offices.
“The general public, especially members and supporters of our Party are therefore encouraged to discountenance such rumors no matter where they get their vents from, as the Party in the State shall remain loyal to the Constitution and philosophies of the Party and do everything legally possible to protect the interest of our teeming members by ensuring that the candidature of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu and those of others who emerged through the primary elections on our Party’s platform is protected; legally, politically and morally.
