In what has become a pattern for public office seekers across the South East, the All Progressive Congress, APC governorship candidate in Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma and other notable politicians were sighted during worship at Adoration Ground run by the revered Father Ejike Mbaka.
Other top politicians at the special service include Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi and PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Mbaka is a prominent religious leader with large membership and followership across the region.
Former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim lost his re- election in 2011 when he was wrongly accused of flogging a Catholic priest which attracted the ire of the Man of God.
Mbaka later pardoned Ohakim after he convinced everyone that such act never took place.
Photo of the Senator with other top political leaders worshipping at the ground has been trending online on Sunday.
This is coming after Senator Uzodinma was backed by the APC Elders Council in Imo State.
Leader of the Council, E.J.K Onyebuchi, a former ally of Governor Rochas Okorocha and one time Chairman, Imo State Elders Council, told visiting National Reconciliation Committee of the APC led by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, that Uzodinma’s entry into the governorship race was aided by the Elders of the party when it was clear to them that the Imo Governor was bent on having his son in law, Uche Nwosu as his successor.
Onyebuchi said “At this point, we were more interested in a popular figure who can stop Governor Okorocha, so we drafted Senator Uzodimma because we saw in him, the man with the popularity and capacity to stop Okorocha.
“So Uzodimma is the candidate of Imo people. He did not come out on his own and I can assure you that Imo people will vote for him massively,” he declared.
