Caretaker Committee Feasible In Imo APC?

by admin

With the defection of Uche Nwosu from the All Progressive Congress, APC to the Action Alliance, AA, there are fears that leadership of the APC in the State may be dissolved in favour of the APC governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

The APC leadership structure in Imo State from the ward, local Government and State levels are run by loyalists of Governor Rochas Okorocha who is solidly behind the ambition of his son in law, Uche Nwosu.

Nwosu had all strived all to no avail to secure the APC governorship ticket having lost to Senator Hope Uzodinma.

The media in Owerri had reported that a caretaker committee loyal to Uzodinma may be constituted to back Uzodinma’s guber bid.

Pro Uzodinma loyalists told this newspaper at the weekend that with Nwosu’s defection to the AA, there is no way the Camp Hope, the political structure of the Senator could work with the present State Executives of the party loyal to Okorocha and Nwosu.

This newspaper was unable to verify if such the National Working Committee, NWC, will tow this line of action by dissolving the present State Executives considering ongoing reconciliation moves it initiated to reconcile aggrieved members in Imo APC.

The Reconciliation team led by Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, was in Owerri last week where they met with Governor Rochas Okorocha, his supporters and Senator Uzodinma.

The issue of dissolving the State Executive never came up though it was evident that the Uzodinma camp may not be disposed to have the present State Executives of the party.

However, Governor Rochas Okorocha intention to stay put in the APC has been described as a “tricky one” which may frustrate moves to sack the present State Executives.
