With the defection of 19 members of the Imo State House to the Action Alliance, AA, there are strong indications that mass resignation looms in Imo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
The APC State Executives is run by loyalists loyal to Governor Rochas Okorocha and his former Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu.
Nwosu had defected to the AA from the APC sighting injustice meted to him as reasons for leaving the governing party.
This newspaper was informed that with the move of 17 APC members of the Imo State House of Assembly, all is now set for the APC State Executives led by Daniel Nwafor to leave the APC for the AA to support Nwosu’s guber bid.
On Tuesday, the Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Jones Onwusoanya FCC Jones dumped the party for the AA. He has been appointed Director, Media and Publicity, Uche Nwosu governorship campaign Organization.
It was gathered that the APC governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma’s may be pushing for a caretaker committee of the party to aid him run his campaign ahead of the 2019 governorship election.
The APC national leadership today took far reaching decisions to support its candidates vowing that it would not accept half measured support for any of its candidates by its members.
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, had vowed to support the governorship ambition of Uche Nwosu in the Action Alliance, AA while he remains in the APC. Okorocha is APC candidate for Orlu Senatorial seat.
*LGA Chairmen, Councillors May Follow Suit*
There are also indications that the 645 Councillors and 27 Local Government Chairmen loyal to Governor Okorocha will soon cross over from the All Progressive Congress, APC to the AA.
This newspaper was informed that their defection will take place at a planned mega rally for Nwosu later in the month.
