Imo: Professional Bodies, Associations Unite For Good Governance

As the 2019 general elections draws close,Professional Bodies and Associations are coming together to forge a formidable front in Imo State in a bid to enthrone good governance. They are to collapse into an Amalgamation.

The Amalgamation is formed by professional bodies and key organizations in Imo State, including the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.

Other groups include Olu Owerri, Olu Okigwe and Orluzurumee. They are the apex socio political groups who champion the political interests and rights of the three geo political zones in Imo State namely Owerri, Okigwe and Orlu.

Others involved in the Amalgamation include NANS, NYCN, the academia, Imo State Newspaper Publishers, media Executives, Amalgamated Traders Union, Imo Town Unions and others

Unveiling of the Amalgamation holds on Friday, 14th December, 2018 at Owerri Hotel Plaza, Port Harcourt Road, Owerri.

According to a statement jointly signed by Chief Emeka Diwe, Barr Damian Nosike, and LOC Chairman, Chief Martin Opara, a former Anambra State Governor, Chukwumeka Ezeife will be Chairman of the event.

Mazi Clement Onwunna and Rev Fr.Prof Phillip Ogbonna will be keynote speaker and guest speaker respectively.

Plans by the Almagation geared towards mobilising it’s members and the grassroots and protect the votes of credible candidates in the 2019 election will be also unveiled at the event

Over 1, 000 delegates are expected at the ceremony drawn from various components of the Amalgamation.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, his Deputy, Eze Madumere, governorship candidates, the State Commissioner of Police and Director of State Services as well as selected opinion leaders in the State will give Goodwill messages.
