Anti Rigging: Uche Nwosu Set Up Ballot Protection Corps

Following his recent pronouncement that youths in the State will fight against rigging the elections in Imo State, the Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate, Uche Nwosu has set up Imo Ballot Protection Corps (Imo- BPC).According to a statement by FCC Onwusoanya Jones,  Nwosu’s Director Media and Publicity,the Corps is headed by Comrade Jeff Nwaoha.

Nwosu was reported in the media to have said  “In fact, anybody thinking of rigging the 2019 election is making a big mistake because we will resist it. The youths of Imo state will resist it, the women and the leaders of the state will resist it.

According to the Statement, the corps will carry out the following functions:

1. PRE- ELECTION: 

(a). To embark on an extensive mobilization drive to sustain the massive support enjoyed by Action Alliance across the State and as well ensure that more voters are made to understand the bright promises which an Ugwumba Uche Nwosu governorship hold for all Imolites.

(b). To give regular feedback to the Ugwumba Uche Nwosu Campaign Organization on how best to sustain the massive grassroots support and improve on them where necessary.

 (c). To be the direct link between the masses and the campaign organization.

 (d). To serve on the Election Intelligence Committee of the Campaign Organization, which will be responsible for furnishing the Campaign Organization with strategic information that will guarantee the sanctity of the electoral process.

2. DURING THE ELECTION: 

(a). To monitor their various polling booths and checkmate any form of sharp practices by politicians and electoral officials. The Corps members are to follow due process in ensuring that any suspicious activity is reported to appropriate authorities.

(b). To collaborate with the INEC and security agencies to stop vote buying or any other form of electoral malpractice.

(c). To provide all relevant data concerning the conduct of the election in every polling booth in the State.

3. POST ELECTION:

(a). To follow through on all post election processes.

(b). To serve as direct liaison between the anticipated Ugwumba Uche Nwosu led administration and the people,towards ensuring that every campaign promise made to the people is kept to.

(c). To regularly update the Ugwumba Uche Nwosu administration on new development needs of the local people.

(d). To be fully integrated into the Imo Orientation Corps for more effective mass mobilization.

“So far, about 37,702 youths drawn from all the polling booths in the State have volunteered to serve in the Imo Ballot Protection Corps” the statement concluded
