The APC Reconciliation Committee constituted by the national leadership of the party, Thursday stormed Owerri, Imo State capital- a move political observers said was a “dead end” on multi crisis that has plagued the party in the State.
Governor Rochas Okorocha had lost the bid to have Uche Nwosu, his son in law as governorship candidate of the party.Rather the APC National leadership preferred Hope Uzodinma, Senator representing Imo West in the Senate for the party’s governorship ticket.
Governor Okorocha opened up to the team led by Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, Senator Goodwill Akpabio, on his travails in the party after losing the contentious governorship ticket for his sin in law.
He recalled his contributions to the APC and wondered why he will be so treated after making huge contributions to the growth and advancement of the party.
The meeting which was witnessed by hundreds of supporters of Okorocha’s Rescue Mission group took place on a day the Imo State Governor had given his blessings to his son in law, Nwosu to seek political refuge in another political party to pursue his governorship ambition.
Nwosu was reported to have joined the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP and later the Action Alliance, AA, a party linked to Okorocha in 2011.Most House of Assembly members who were also denied tickets in the APC joined Nwosu to the new party.
Ganduje, the leader of the team, said the NWC of the APC set up the committee to make peace in the party for its growth. He thanked the Imo Governor for not dumping the party and hailed him for his continuous support for the re election of President Buhari.
Senator Goodwill Akpabio spoke in the same vein.
However the re-conciliatory moves was late and a dead end incapable of resolving multi dimensional problems plaguing the APC in the State.
Three power blocs now exist in the party- the Okorocha camp which has an extension in the AA, the Imo APC Coalition who are poised for a showdown with the camp of Senator Uzodinma for not conceding the running mate slot to the group.
