Fiery critic and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State, Prof Protus Nathan Uzorma has declined his appointment as member of the party’s campaign council in Imo State.
His resignation came barely few hours Senator Samuel Anyanwu announced his decision not to join the party’s Campaign Council citing ongoing legal fireworks in court where he is challenging the victory of Hon Emeka Ihedioha as the party’s governorship candidate in Imo State.
Mr. Protus in a statement he forwarded to this newspaper said he was not consulted before he was appointed a member of the campaign council
The full statement reads:
I just read with deep sense of disappointment, the infusion of my name in the PDP Governorship Campaign Council list today without anyone having the courtesy to consult me or seek my consent. My attempt to seek clarification from the State Chairman of the party has not yielded any result.
I am a member of the Steering Committee of the Divine Mandate Movement and the last time I checked, my group has not made any decision either individually or collectively to be part of Ihedioha’s Campaign Council.
Until then, I hereby make bold to state as follows:
That I decline to serve in the PDP Guber Campaign Council for now.
That my position on the subject matter should not be misconstrued as an act of insurbodination to the party.
At my age and level, I will not condone any attempt by anyone or group of persons to take me unawares.
Once again, my membership of that Campaign Council is hereby renounced with immediate effect.
Prof. Protus Uzorma
Steering Committee Member
