Police Kick Against Destruction Of BillBoards, Campaign Posters In Imo

The Imo State Police Command has frowned at the unlawful superimposing, destruction and removal of billboards, campaign posters and banners by some misguided elements by some misguided elements and supporters of rival political parties/candidates in the State.

In a statement by SP Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, Police Public Relations Officer, the unwholesome attitude is capable  of overheating the polity and causing breach of peace in the State.

The Statement titled Re: Unlawful, Superimposing/Destruction/Removal Of Bill-Boards, Campaign Posters And Banners reads:

The attention of the Imo State Police Command has been drawn to the unlawful superimposing, destruction and removal of campaign bill boards, posters and banners of Political Parties/Candidates by some misguided elements/supporters of rival political parties/candidates in the state.

“This unwholesome attitude is capable of overheating the polity and causing breach of peace in the state. The state command therefore use this medium to advice all political parties, candidates and their supporters in the habit of such act to desist from it as the command will ensure that any person or group of persons caught in the said act will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law. 

Furthermore, the command warns all political parties, candidates, supporters and sympathizers to play by the rules to ensure peaceful electioneering period.

The State Police Command therefore urge the general public to shun any act capable of causing breakdown of law and order in the state.
