The governorship ambition of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, got a significant boost Sunday when a socio cultural Organization, Olu Owerri endorsed the former Deputy Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives
Also adopted by the group include PDP Owerri zone Senatorial candidate and member representing Owerri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon.Ezenwa Onyewuchi.
Ihedioha who spoke after the endorsement held at Ugwu Ekwema Civic Centre, Owerri, said he is motivated by the show of support and major backing ahead of the guber polls expected to be fierce in Imo State on March 2nd, 2019.
This is the second major endorsement for Ihedioha after key leaders of Owerri zone had endorsed him last year as the best candidate Owerri zone is putting forward for the 2019 governorship election in the State.
Ihedioha recalled that Owerri zone had suffered marginalization in the State having not produced the Governor of the State since democracy returned to the country in 1999.
He said the agitation for Owerri zone to produce Imo Governor in 2019 is a mission that must be accomplished.
” Our marginalisation has risen to the point of insult. Owerri zone must resist it. We must be prepared for the battle ahead which is the governorship election on March 2. And it is our turn to have the Governorship of Imo State.
He called on well meaning sons and daughters of the zone to buckle up and support his quest to ensure the zone succeeds in the quest to produce the next Governor of the State.
Ihedioha stated that Owerri zone has every right to strongly claim the governorship, calling on his co contestants from the zone to join the battle to ensure Owerri zone does not lose out.
He made it clear that sister geo political zones are still laying claims to the number one job in the State, stating that the zone must do all it could to ensure it does not lose out in guber election in 2019.
He said the only way the zone could achieve this noble objective is to close ranks, urging Olu Owerri to spread the gospel down to the grassroots
In his remarks, member representing Owerri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Owerri zone PDP Senatorial candidate, Hon Ezenwa Onyewuchi hailed the group for the endorsement.
He assured that if elected to the Senate, he will continue with the good works he had started during his stay in the green chambers.
Hon Uche Onyeagocha, a chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA and a major backer of Hon Ihedioha hailed Olu Owerri for endorsing Ihedioha whom he said is the right candidate that will take Owerri Zone to Government House, come May 2019.
Onyeagocha recalled that Ihedioha had gotten a similar endorsement last year which signpost that he is the only candidate among others from the zone that can take Owerri zone to the seat of power of the State.
