Contrary to public misinformation that he is under pressure to seek a single term and hand over the reins of governance to Owerri zone, there are strong indications that the Imo APC governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma, is not under any sort of pressure from any quarter to seek for one term.

Media reports had claimed on Tuesday that Owerri zone APC led by a former ally of Governor Rochas Okorocha, Chief Charles Amadi,  is spearheading  moves to compel  Uzodinma agree to an agreement to do one term and hand over to Owerri zone.

It was reasoned among some party leaders in the zone that the only way to get Owerri zone key into the Senator’s ambition and support his aspiration in totality is to extract a one term commitment from him.

A source however close to the senator admitted that the APC governorship candidate is already willing to do a single term of four years and hand over to a candidate from Owerri zone.

“ The Senator is one that believes in equity. I can tell you he is favourably disposed do one term and allow Owerri zone take over.

“ Owerri zone governorship aspirants in the APC such as Eze Madumere and many others were all in the race but Senator Uzodinma later turned out to be a strong force to stop Okorocha’s plans to foist Uche Nwosu as governorship candidate of the party

“ There is no pressure on the Senator whatsoever. He is a gentleman and he is not pressured at all to accept one term.

It would be recalled that Chairman of Imo APC Elders Council, E.J.K Onyebuchi at a Town Hall meeting in Owerri last year said the APC governorship candidate is committed to a one term tenure.
