The Imo State Police Command, Owerri has said it is working in conjunction with other security agencies in the State in a bid to ensure a peaceful conduct of the elections in the State.
According to a statement signed by SP Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, Police Public Relations Officer, it warned any political party, candidates, supporters, sympathizers or Chieftain caught causing or scheming to cause mayhem before, during or after the election will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
The Full Statement reads:
“In view of the recently postponed election which is scheduled to take place on 23rd February, 2019, the general public is hereby informed that the Imo State Police Command in conjunction with other security agencies in the state are determined to ensure the peaceful conduct of the general elections. The command therefore assures the general public to go about their lawful business and eschew violence in all its entirety.
“In the same vein, any political party, candidates, supporters, sympathizers or chieftain caught causing or scheming to cause mayhem before, during or after the election will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
