Protesters Storm INEC Office, Owerri

As Imolites and Nigerians await the official results of the Presidential and National Assembly elections, some protesters from Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State have stormed INEC office, Owerri calling on the electoral umpire not to announce results of the polls from the area.

Leader of the protesters, Mr. Emma Okwudili, said their demands hings on free, fair and credible elections.

He alleged that many electoral materials went missing and staff of the electoral umpire reported very late to the area.

.“In Some wards, materials was snatched from polling units by men on army camouflage, we are here to plead to INEC to please never accept any result coming from the area, we call for the cancellation of the results and a rescheduled re-run in our area so that we can elect our choice candidates”

He continued “there was no voting in Awara, Ikwere ward, Asa to obiere, booth 002,003,007,008, 0011 and booth 0013 the materials meant for election that area was carted away from hoodlums”.  

He added “Nobody in Ohaji/Egbema can vividly tell you, he has the photocopies or the pictures of any results sheet in Ohaji/Egbema”

The protesters who stormed the INEC office were carrying placards with various inscriptions such as “ We need fresh election in Ohaji/Egbema” , “Ohaji/Egbema youths needs free and fair elections in our areas”.
