A Federal High Court in Owerri, Imo State has struck out a suit restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC from issuing Certificate of Return to the State Governor elect, Emeka Ihedioha.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the court maintained that post election matters belonged to the election tribunals
Uche Nwosu, the Action Alliance, AA governorship candidate in the March 9, 2019 guber election and son in law of Governor Rochas Okorocha, had proceeded to Court to secure an order restraining INEC from issuing Certificate of Return to the governorship candidate of the PDP, Ihedioha
Ihedioha was declared winner of the March 9 governorship election by INEC
In his ruling, Justice Tijjani Ringim held that post election matters are to be handled by the election tribunal.
The judgment came a day after the governorship candidate of Masses Movement of Nigeria, Jerry Iheanacho told newsmen of the resolve of some aggrieved political parties in the State to challenge the outcome of the governorship election at the election petitions tribunal.
In a swift counter, the Forum of 2019 Governorship candidates of Political Parties in Imo State have rdecided to stand with Ihedioha to defend his victory in the governorship election in the tribunal.
