APC And Their Zoning Arrangement At The 9th Assembly: Matters Arising. BY KACHY MADUKAEGO

*Oshiomole* National Chairman, All Progressive Congress, APC*

Barely few weeks after the general election when all the integral part of our nation Nigeria are most expectant of the dividend of power sharing which is suppose to be spread across zones in accordance to checks and balancing, especially for a government that claim to be for nobody but for everyone.

This factor should have formed the basis of their collective decisions and consideration before manufacturing their zoning list which is marred with bias and hatred.

The recent permutation of principal offices for the 9th republic of the Senate by the ruling party APC is a clear indication that South Easterners have been totally relegated in the affairs of the Senate and the nation by extension.

It is morally, constitutionally and religiously right that President Muhammadu Buhari having emerged from the North and his Vice Prof. Yemi Osibanjo from the West, the Senate President should be reserved for the South and East.

Ironically, the APC zoning list for the 9th Assembly nominated only Deputy majority leader for the East.Whatever rational they adopted in dishing out such unguarded document is simply carnivorous, as well makes mockery of our democracy.

Despite the Easterners might not have given block vote like our brothers from the North did in the election, it still does not warrant such ill treatment whereas the South that has a similarly issue with East was nominated for the Deputy Senate president.

To say the least, South East APC senators elect for the 9th Assembly are reputable and notable Senior citizens of Nigeria that have made mark in various sectors of our country’s economy and should be encouraged to do more by entrusting them with tasking positions in the interest of the nation, the likes of His Excellency Orji Uzor Kalu former Governor of Abia state who will represent Abia North, Ifeanyi Ubah #CapitalOil of Anambra South who joined APC lately, and that of Imo East and North, where the two contending candidates are from APC extraction.

Consequently, any position short of Senate President and National Assembly speaker should not by pass the South East if the leadership of APC and the ruling government are willing to maintain equity and our national unity.

The NWC of APC and the Presidency can not claim ignorant of the consequences of their zoning action but be it as it may they should also bear in mind that APC is still on the verge of survival in Nigeria politics, so needles to say Uhuru yet.

It is morally, constitutionally and religiously right that President Muhammadu Buhari having emerged from the North and his Vice Prof. Yemi Osibanjo from the West, the Senate President should be reserved for the South and East”
