The governorship candidate of Sustainable Nigerian Party, SNP, Obinna Ikechukwu Munonye, has spoken on his party’s missing logo on the ballot paper for the March 9 governorship election in Imo State.

He said he will not drag the winner of the governorship election in the State, Rt Hon.Emeka Ihedioha to court.

In an affidavit he deposed at the Owerri judicial Division in the High Court of Imo State on March 28,2019 and seen by this newspaper, he stated that he accepts the result of the election and congratulates Ihedioha on his victory.

The 11 paragraph Affidavit reads:

“I, Obinna Ikechukwu Munonye, adult, male, Christian, Nigerian citizen of Iho-Dimeze in Ikeduru local government area of Imo State, do hereby make oath and state as follows:

  1. I was the governorship candidate of the Sustainable Party of Nigeria in the 2019 general elections in Imo State of Nigeria.
  2. That during the election my party logo was omitted.
  3. That at end of the election held on March 9th 2019, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha emerged victorious and was returned as the duly elected Governor of Imo State come May 29th, 2019.
  4. That inspite of the fact that my party logo was omitted, thereby excluding me in the contest in the said election, I have no intention whatsoever to seek redress in the court.
  5. I have whole-heartedly, accepted the election of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the Governor-elect of Imo State.
  6. That I dissociate myself from any move or step from any person or my party, to challenge the election and the return of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the governor-elect of Imo State.
  7. That I have not instructed any person, neither have I given consent to any person to take legal proceedings, challenging the election of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha in any court of law or tribunal.
  8. That any legal process, purporting to carry my name as a petitioner or using my name to facilitate the said process in any court of law or tribunal does not emanate from me.
  9. That as a citizen of Imo State, I join hands with Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Governor-elect of Imo State to move the State forward and engender peace, tranquility and harmony among our people, which will in turn, accelerate the socio-economic development of the State.
  10. That I also congratulate Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha on his well-deserved victory at the polls and enjoin other to do so.
  11. That I make this Oath in good faith, conscientiously believing same to be true and correct in accordance with the Oaths Act 2004.”
