Lugard Osuji: “My Peoples’ Predicament, Key Factor I Wanted To Return To Imo Assembly

* Hon Lugard Osuji* Member Representing Owerri Municipal State Constituency, IMHA*

The absence of Owerri political heavyweights  in the top echoleon of the political firmament of Imo State and beyond was one of the major factors that propelled Hon.Lugard Osuji to return to the House of Assembly a second time and aspire for the Speakership of the Imo State House of Assembly.

In a statement in Owerri, Osuji said placing his people in the higher rung of the political pedestal of the State was one of the chief factors that made him aspire for the number three position in the State.

Owerri municipal has been plagued by absence of notable political leaders in recent times after the exit of some of its finest leaders who made huge impact in the politics of the State.

Osuji who was the Action Alliance, AA House of Assembly candidate in the just concluded State Assembly election, said “ My major decision to re-contest for the Owerri Municipal State Constituency House of Assembly seat was solely driven by my passion to see that our Constituency is brought to limelight by way of having our people occupy strategic positions in the House of Assembly, the State Government and also the Federal Government:

“Positions that we haven’t been opportuned to occupy since the creation of our great State.

“Today, Owerri Municipal Council is in dire need of political heavy weights who will bring home dividends of democracy both from the Federal and State Governments. This was what I had the greatest desire of correcting with my re-election bid as I believed I would have had the opportunity to position our people to take their rightful place in the polity”
