FAAN Reveals Update On Casualties At Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport Inferno


There were no casualties in the fire incident that took place at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, on Monday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs.Henrietta Yakubu, saying that the video circulating on the social media was fake.

FAAN had yesterday shortly after the fire was “swifty curtailed” that there were no casualties from the fire outbreak which occurred at about 2.00pm.

“The Authority will like to state that there was no casualty, as the fire was swifty curtailed by officers of our Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services

Yakubu said the fake video was from a petrol tanker accident somewhere, adding that it was the handiwork of mischief makers

She noted that all airports in the country under the management of FAAN were adequately equipped with fire service and other emergency equipment.

“FAAN is commiteed to her core values of safety, security and comfort she added.
