There are strong indications that the Imo State House of Assembly has directed the 27 Local Government Chairmen to appear before it with their Director of Administration and General Services, DAGS and Treasurers.
This is contrary to media reports that the Executives intervened in the grilling of the Council Chairmen at the Assembly complex
A top level source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the Council Chairmen were told to appear with the Treasurers and DAGS in their respective Council after the Committee on Local Government had tendered a report that they were not forthcoming in complying with the directives.
According to the source, the Commissioner of Finance and Accountant General would appear on a later date after they sought to be excused for attending a FAAC meeting in Abuja.
The lawmakers in a bid to unravel the debt profile of the State had invited the Secretary to the State Government, Mark Uchendu, Commissioner of Finance, Mrs Ugochi Nnanna Okoroa and Accountant General,.to appear before it on Tuesday.
