Top chieftains of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State especially those seeking for ministerial appointment  are keeping a close tab on the National Working Committee, NWC as the leadership of the party are bent on ensuring that only members who have been faithful to the party secure ministerial or executive appointments.

This newspaper had exclusively reported last month that the party leadership considered the option as a basis to rebuild the party in States traumatized by its defeat in the last general elections.

In Imo State, the party crashed from its Olympian heights losing the governorship to the PDP and was unable to produce a single member of the incoming State House of Assembly. Before the polls, the party had 23 House of Assembly members.

The fall of the party in Imo State was largely blamed on ceaseless and endless crisis between Governor Rochas Okorocha who was later suspended from the party by the NWC for alleged anti party activities, and a faction loyal to the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

A source told this newspaper that the NWC have decided to work with members whose loyalty were not in doubt as it will no longer be business as usual where those who never worked for the party were appointed as Ministers.

The party leaders took the position after President Muhammadu Buhari last week instructed his Ministers to hand in their reports ahead of the May 29 swearing in date.

According to the source, a NEC meeting is expected to hold in June where issues bordering on alleged anti party activities will come up.

Meanwhile, top chieftains of the APC in Imo State have now besieged party leaders in a bid to land an appointment in the new look cabinet of President Buhari.
