Isiah Ibeanusi, father of slain 10 year old Somtochukwu who was allegedly shot by security forces during the demolition of Owerri main market (Eke Ukwu Owere market) on August 27, 2018, has demanded for N20 million naira compensation.

He said the compensation would help him and his family cushion the pains of the loss of his son.

He spoke at a public hearing organized by a Civil Rights Group, Network on Police Reform in Nigeria in Owerri.

Isiah alleged since his son was killed by a stray bullet, there has not been proper investigation to ensure those who perpetrated the act are brought to justice.

He accused the State Government and the Police of playing lip service to the matter.

Isiah who spoke in Igbo said “The compensation would at least cushion the pains of the loss . I want a thorough investigation into the circumstance that led to the killing of my only son . I want justice . I want his killers to be brought to justice.
